(Los Angeles, CA) -- Los Angeles police are asking for the public's help in solving the first murder of the year in downtown LA. Police say 19 year-old Joseph Cosina of Gardena was shot multiple times around 1:30 a.m. Friday, outside the LA Crash Mansion, a nightclub. LAPD Lieutenant Paul Vernon says Cosina was shot after a "young girl was stabbed in the arm" inside the club and "patrons began leaving in large numbers." He says the exodus of patrons turned into a melee in the parking lot. Two other men besides Cosina were shot. They and the young woman are expected to recover from their wounds. As the majority of the nightclub's customers were between 18 and 20 years old, Lt. Vernon says investigators will also be looking at whether the LA Crash Mansion was serving alcohol to minors
