Also I Like To Rock
8pm
Foreign Born & Great Northern
LA’s Foreign Born has toured the US and UK with Rogue Wave,
Cold War Kids, Giant Drag and We Are Scientists. Their first full
length album,
On the Wing Now, is scheduled for an August 2007 release.
Hailed as “Ones To Watch In 2006 ” by the
Los Angeles Times, Great Northern radiates sophisticated and infectious melodies on
their debut album,
Trading Twilight for Daylight.
8pm
The Pity Party & The Little Ones
LA’s Pity Party has cultivated a passionate following with
densely layered synth rhythms and pulse-pounding performances by
its two members.
Bursting onto the rock scene with unbridled optimism, The Little
Ones’ classic sound has earned them comparisons to 196 0s
psyche-pop greats like The Beach Boys and The Kinks.
8pm
Castledoor & Low vs. Diamond
Silver Lake’s Castledoor has been charming local audiences
with its intricate songcraft and ethereal sound. On their sold-out,
self-released EP,
Follow the Dove, joyful lyrics float on heavenly waves of vocal harmonies.
Lush, languorous and beautifully bittersweet-that's the sound of
Life After Love, the stunning debut EP from Marrakesh recording artists LOW vs
DIAMOND. The intoxicatingly tuneful disc introduces the Los
Angeles-based quintet as a band with skyscraping ambition, blending
elements of Roxy Music, Smashing Pumpkins and Burt Bacharach to
thrilling effect.
8pm
Sea Wolf & Midnight Movies
As displayed on the debut EP,
Get To The River Before It Runs Too Low, the sound of Sea Wolf is a combination of delicate, arching
melodies and foggy, elegiac narratives.
The sound of Midnight Movies conjures a certain noir Los Angeles,
replete with mystery, desire and yearning.
On Lion the Girl, their second full-length release, the band explores haunting new
vistas and back alleys of the soul, with an expanded lineup and
more expansive songwriting
